Hearts 9 Vs 3 Wealdstone   Sunday 14th April 2002 Supp. cup
Although it is a well worn cliché this was a game of two halves. The first was finely balanced with ebb and flow and fine football skills exhibited by both sides. Alex Nichols nosed the visitors ahead on 27 minutes tapping home from Chris Paraskevas’ cross, which finished off a precise passing move. Two injury-forced Wealdstone substitutions and a change in tactics by The Hearts saw Wealdstone concede 5 goals in quick succession early in the second half. Wealdstone then went on the offensive and after a flurry of attempts on goal Tom Watson blasted home from outside a crowded penalty area. Now chasing the game, Wealdstone were exposed at the back and The Hearts scored three more on the break. Man-of-the-match Harris Adu’s never-say-die spirit enthused his team mates and his pass set up Chris Paraskevas who took the ball around the keeper for Wealdstone’s third goal.Luck was not on Wealdstone’s side when a clearance from the ‘keeper rebounded off a Heart’s player into an unguarded goal to leave the final score at 9 – 3 to The Hearts.
